Anointed Community Academy is a school located in Mururi in Matunda. We have built the school to help the poor children in the area afford basic education.
We have secured a parcel of land for the school through the help of Rachel Sung, Paul Chau, Rebecca Blain, and others. This project is headed by Pastor Jahonga Henry and Mathew Jahonga. Read More.
Kenya has made important strides in improving its education system in recent years and since primary education was made free and compulsory in 2003, primary school enrolment rates have increased dramatically. However, for children living in remote areas of Kenya, as well as children with disabilities, access to education is limited. A lack of trained teachers, high levels of food insecurity and sporadic localised conflict contribute to enrolment rates in these communities being among Kenya’s lowest.
The quality of educational outcomes is a further cause for concern. Added to this, there is also a huge gap in the provision of early childhood care and development for the children aged three to five years of age. A lack of basic education not only means that children are not able to fulfill their rights; it also has far-reaching implications for their development and employment opportunities later in life.
We are working to see that every child attains the right to survival, protection, development and participation. We are working to increase children’s access to quality basic education and early childhood care and development (ECCD), and to empower vulnerable young people through education and vocational training. By doing this, we’ll give children the foundation they need to thrive and secure a better future for themselves and their families later in life.
